CBIZ, Inc., a major player in professional services based in Cleveland, OH, had experienced significant growth through both organic expansion and acquisitions. However, the recent acquisition of Marks Paneth, with around 700 users, presented a unique challenge. Typically, previous acquisitions had been managed by one or two individuals, which was not scalable for an integration of this size. The internal IT team recognized they needed a more structured approach to handle the complexities of such a large migration without disrupting ongoing operations.

Solution

Comet was engaged to guide CBIZ through this complex integration as part of our Mergers & Acquisitions practice. We focused on leveraging technologies such as Active Directory, Microsoft Entra, Windows Server, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Intune, and Configuration Manager to facilitate the transition. To ensure a smooth integration, we established a comprehensive framework by splitting the workload into individualized workstreams, each assigned to different aspects of the migration. This structure allowed us to manage the complexity effectively while ensuring coordination by identifying cross-workstream dependencies.
